Why we chose UI8 to build our crowdfunding, planet-saving dApp

As individuals, we have no real power to affect any kind of action to tackle the big problems that humanity faces.
Sure, we can vote for politicians we hope will do good and make lifestyle choices, but we can’t fund big ideas or bring about large-scale change.
But to make the kind of huge, world-changing difference we really need, it’s going to take a global community of dedicated people working together to find and fund the kinds of projects that can have an impact.
The problem is, we don’t have the tools to do it.
We have Discord for communicating, polls for voting, some DAOs in their infancy for collaborating, crowdfunding platforms for fundraising, crypto for donating…
But it’s a mess. And it’s not very transparent.
So we thought we’d build an all-in-one platform on the blockchain to give people everything they need to take back the power and tackle the world’s biggest problems together.
That means one platform that lets you:
- Sign up with an email address and get started
- Donate to causes they care about, from carbon capture to inequality
- Join communities dedicated to causes you care about
- Play an active role in community and organization
- Apply for funding for their project
- Chat and communicate with other Earthlings
- Hold votes and discussions on what projects to support
- Crowdfund your budgets through crypto donations
- Buy 1Earth tokens without leaving the site
- Stake your 1Earth tokens to get a governance token and earn a yield (staking announcement coming soon)
- Use an integrated 1Earth wallet to store your 1Earth tokens
- Get notifications for important things like votes or new applications
- Vet applications for funding from causes around the world
We need the tools to make an impact
To make a real impact, we need to take Earth Fund to people outside of the crypto community.
Our UX and design need to be intuitive to allow passionate people around the world to get involved with Earth Fund, regardless of their experience with DAOs or crypto.
It needs to be so simple and easy to use that your Facebook-using Grandmother can log in and donate to causes if she wants to.
So that’s why we’ve teamed up with (what our Creative Director thinks is) the best UI team in the world.

Starting work right away
The Earth Fund team is meeting with the UI8 team on 30th November to kick things off.
We’ll be giving them a brief on everything we want the platform to be and breaking down the project into manageable milestones so we make steady progress.
