This is our July 2023 update full of updates on the progress our development team are making in building out EarthFund 2.0.

For the last few months, we’ve all been hard at work building out the all-new EarthFund platform, complete with an AI-powered community launchpad, better usability, and massively improved community engagement functionality.

Here’s what we’ve achieved so far:
At the end of last quarter, we took a hard look at the growth of the platform, listened to your feedback, and decided to overhaul the platform to make it even easier to launch a community and change the world.
Here’s everything we’ve designed and built in the last 90 days:
🌍 Integrating with OpenAI and Stability.ai to create the graphics and content for your communities → Complete ✅
🌍 Fine-tuning our prompts to ensure a consistently high-quality output → Complete ✅
🌍 QA on the AI-suggested grants → Complete ✅
🌍 Creating “claim community” functionality → Complete ✅
🌍 Creating waitlist functionality → Complete ✅
🌍 AI-assisted tokenomics → Complete ✅
Whenever you create a community, we’ve now trained AI to help you create tokenomics and hit a fundraising goal that can make a difference. Just another complicated task we’ve streamlined and simplified 🙌
🌍 Product Hunt-style leaderboard and comment/like functionality → complete ✅
🌍 New community admin dashboard → complete ✅
We’ve completed building out a new dashboard for founders to take control of their community.
From the dashboard, you’ll be able to:
- Edit your community homepage (images, copy, etc…)
- Change your branding and colors
- Edit your metadata to control SEO and how you appear when you appear on search engines or links are shared
- Toggle KYC for all members so you have control over who can join your community
- Turn on geographic restrictions (more on this later)
- List your token on CoinMarketCap and Etherscan
- Set minimum token amounts to suggest a grant
- Set a minimum and maximum grant proposal amount
- Take control of your Discord channel policies (verified users? Token holders?)
🌍 Mainnet and Snapshot integrations → 90% complete 🚀
By the end of this week, all community and grant submissions will be live on Web 3 and Snapshot.
This is HUGE.
This is the last step of completing our (new) core functionality, which means our testing team can start testing it, suggesting improvements, and getting it ready for launch in September.
In the meantime, you can keep up to date on the progress we’re making on our development site.
If you try this demo site, the same caveats apply as before.
This isn’t the finished product. A lot of features we’ve built haven’t been pushed live on this demo. (This is for a number of reasons, from protecting our ideas to making sure they work correctly before we make them public.)
A few relics from the old design are still here. We’ve put this together using old architecture so you can try the AI integration and get a sneak peek of the new platform in action.
There are going to be bugs. This demo doesn’t work perfectly. If it did, we’d be launching the entire platform today. However, it does give you a good idea of where we’re heading. Even better, we can stop just talking about the AI integration and let you see for yourself how freaking awesome it is.
The community launcher is a little slow. We’re working on speeding it up significantly before launch.
But we’re launching a full platform. Not an MVP.
That means we’re not just launching the core functionality.
Over the next 8 weeks, we’re going to be building out all the bells, whistles, and extra features that are really going to make EarthFund the go-to platform for anybody that wants to start a community and make the world a brighter, better place.
🌍 Building out the leaderboard and waitlist functionality → ETA end of July
As we’ve said before, we always loved the idea of the EarthFund community deciding which communities get promoted and more visibility.
That’s why we’re building out a leaderboard that lets you use your 1Earth vote every week on which communities get featured at the top of the EarthFund homepage, on social media (followed by a fair few influential accounts), and featured in a “Community of the Week” email sent out to our list of almost 4000 followers.
Note: like all votes on the platform and in the communities, this will run Monday to Sunday and the winner will be featured the following week.
You’ll also be able to join a waitlist with a single click to get notified as soon as a community launches.
These features are going to be MASSIVE for community founders.
Not only is EarthFund a platform to create a home for your community (complete with your own Discord channel full of verified community members), but full of tools that help you grow your community, find new members and donors, and — most importantly — built-in tools to boost your visibility and create marketing events like:
- Create pre-launch community lists that will be emailed as you launch
- Promote your chances to win “Community of the Week” and all of the promotion and extra visibility that comes with that
- Enhanced sharing functionality from inside the platform
- More visibility of the Discord channels for newbies to join and chat
- New “like” functionality so people can subscribe to your community even if they’re not a member. (And, hopefully, eventually join your community or share your work.)
🌍 Adding the ability to geo-restrict users — ETA early August
Whether we like it or not, some national governments are going to place restrictions on cryptocurrency. (Just like Binance’s restriction on Russia last year.)
We want EarthFund to be a platform for good that is trusted not just by the Web3 community, but the world at large.
In order to do that, we need to build in fail-safe mechanisms that allow us (and our communities) to react quickly to changing legislation or global events.
That’s why we’re incorporating geo-restrictions into our platform so that users can always stay compliant with local regulations, whatever they may be.
It also adds an extra layer of functionality too.
For example, you may want to create a community of local people who fundraise and vote on local issues. With default global communities, that isn’t possible.
But with geo-restrictions, you can create a community of local people to fund and propose local projects in just a few clicks.
Gearing up to launch ~September 2023
Soon, we’ll announce the finalized launch date of EarthFund 2.0 and more detail into the PR and marketing pushes we’re planning to raise awareness and onboard lots of communities quickly.
(Like the EarthFund-backed grants, for example.)
In the meantime, we’ll be heads down creating the technology that’s at the forefront of what’s possible.
Because while these features might seem intuitive and obvious, nobody has built them yet.
That means that — just like last time — a lot of what we’re doing is creating from scratch. No roadmap. No reference points.
Just a team of really smart, talented, and driven people working together to build new ideas and functionality that can make the world a better place.
